Also Dr. Nikogosyan linked TB with other diseases, including non-communicable, and said that the UN Sustainable Development Goals include many issues related to health and prevention of TB, in particular.

Dr. Dara reminded that TB is an air born disease; therefore, everyone is at risk, especially, when immune system is weakened. It is important to fight stigma related to TB, when TB is believed to be a disease of a certain population. People could belong to any social group and still get TB. He also pointed out several directions that could help to end TB:

- Optimal management of TB drugs

- Provide access to TB treatment to everyone (today only 50% of patients have access)

- Prevent development of drug resistance caused by treatment default, selective use of TB drugs, and weak healthcare systems

The danger of drug resistant TB is that it could spread to other people when they are exposed. It makes the treatment very difficult. So the appropriate treatment should start as soon as possible especially in congregate settings like prisons.

Finally, winners among journalists who published the best publications on the topic of TB and public health in 2015-2016 were awarded.

The region produces 40 % of the world's energy while consuming 45%, is home to important energy industries, produces nearly 50% of global economic output, and is dominant in the world's financial infrastructure. Fossil fuels comprise 60% of primary fuel, making in the UNECE region one of the largest emitters of greenhouse gases, accounting for about half of global emissions. There is no plausible scenario in which that share drops below 50% by 2050. The region nevertheless is striving to manifest itself as a leader in efforts to improve the environment while delivering on quality of life imperatives.

They are also crucial from the standpoint of international stability and security as well as for economic development, which often depends on the production or consumption of energy products. Furthermore, the economic activities carried out by multinational companies in the energy sector may have huge implications and often negative consequences on other spheres such as compliance with safety and labor standards, protection of the environment, respect of indigenous peoples rights, and protection of public health. The panel discussion will present the findings of the publication “Foreign Investment in the Energy Sector” and highlight environmental and legal aspects. the Library of the United Nations Office at Geneva
